OUR MISSION

Advancing Community

Identity's mission is to advance Alaska's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, asexual, two-spirited + community through advocacy, education, health care and connectivity.

Our Vision

A world where all people are free and safe to proudly express their identities and orientations.

Identity Non-Discrimination Policy

Identity envisions a world where all people are free to express and be proud of their gender identity and sexual orientation. Identity advocates for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, asexual, queer and gender-expansive people.

Identity stands in solidarity with Black Lives Matter and all struggles to fight racism, to ensure that the killing of Black people gets proper investigation, and to call attention to the pervasive systemic racism culture in the United States. Identity remembers it was trans women of color who led the riots at Stonewall, sparking a national movement.

Identity, Inc. is an equal opportunity and affirmative action organization and encourages participation in Identity programs from all individuals including people of all genders; people with disabilities; Black, Brown and Indigenous people; People of Color; lesbian, gay, bisexual and queer individuals; and people with lived experience of houselessness and poverty.

Our History

Identity Inc. was established in 1977 as the Alaskan Gay Community Center. Over the years, Identity has grown with the help of dedicated volunteers and board members. In 2014, Identity started hiring full-time employees to support its mission. In 2021, Identity merged with Full Spectrum Health and became Identity Health Clinic. Today, Identity continues to offer community services and healthcare specifically tailored to LGBTQIA2S+ individuals.
