Valdez LGBTQIA2S+ Community Grant
Supporting Local Pride and Queer Organizing in Valdez
Identity is offering a one-time community grant to support LGBTQIA2S+ events, gatherings, and programming in the Valdez area.
This opportunity is available through funds raised under a previous fiscal sponsorship with the now-disbanded Valdez Pride committee. While that original group is no longer active, we know that LGBTQIA2S+ community care and organizing continue—and we want these funds to continue serving Valdez, just as they were intended.
What This Grant Supports
Grants of up to $3,500 are available to support:
Pride events and community gatherings
Artistic or cultural performances
Educational or peer support programming
Health, wellness, and visibility initiatives
Eligible applicants include individuals, informal groups, and nonprofit organizations. Priority will be given to those with a history of LGBTQIA2S+ organizing in Valdez.
Key Dates

Why This Matters
This grant reflects a commitment to make sure community-raised funds do what they were meant to do: uplift queer lives in Valdez. Rather than allow the money to sit unused—or risk being tied up in legal uncertainty—we’ve created this structure to move it directly into community hands.
Any funds not awarded or used by December 31, 2025, will be redirected to the Health Equity Fund, which supports uninsured and underinsured LGBTQIA2S+ Alaskans in accessing affirming healthcare.
Note for Other Communities
This is a one-time opportunity tied to a specific fiscal sponsorship with Valdez Pride. While we are no longer offering fiscal sponsorships or local community grants beyond this program, we’re always open to conversations with organizers across Alaska who are planning events, programs, or seeking solidarity.
